Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 Days / 4 Nights

Salkantay Trek  is considerated like one of the good alternative treks to  Machu Picchu inca site located over (6271mts  20,570 ft), and these 5 days trek will be a nice experience through the Andean mountains to arrived to Machu Picchu, and to open a new chapter in your lifes having the experience to be surrounded by nature, experience only once in your life.

Directly to the north of Salkantay lies Machu Picchu, which is at the end of a ridge that extends down from this mountain. Viewed from Machu Picchu’s main sundial, the Southern Cross is above Salkantay’s summit when at its highest point in the sky during the rainy season. The Incas associated this alignment with concepts of rain and fertility, and considered Salkantay to be one of the principal deities controlling weather and fertility in the region west of Cuzco.

Our standard package includes the premium services of lodging in a very nice hotel on the third night of the trek, a very unique coffee plantation tour in the afternoon of day 2, and dinner in a very good tourist restaurant in Aguas calientes, Your ticket to climb Huayna Picchu mountain after your Machu Picchu tour is also included.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Salkantaypampa – Soyrococha Camp.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Our private transport at 05:00 am, and then for about 2 hours and a half we will get to Mollepata town the place to buy the last supplies for the trek, then for about 1 more hour by car we will get to Challacancha located over (3600mt / 11800ft) place where we will have breakfast as well as the begining point for Our  trek, after breakfast We will meet Our staff and then, we will start to hike with direction to Inca Cannal over (3800mt / 12,500ft), from Inca Cannal the view will be spectacular, amd for abut 3 hour hiking almost in flat área we will get to Soraypampa over (3850mt / 12,800ft) Our lunch Spot, after lunch we will continue the hike for about 1 hour and a half  with direction to Salkantaypampa over (4100mt / 13,450ft), then for about 2 more hours hike we will get to Soyrococha Our Campsite over (4480mt / 14,700ft), we will find our tents set up and everything will be organize there, happy hour will be after and the we will wait for dinner at 07:00pm then your tour guide will give the plan for the next day.

Day 2: Soroycocha – Salkantay Pass – Huayracmachay – Collpapampa Camp.

After breakfast We will start to hike, our next place to get will be the Salkantay Pass, a nice walk for about 1 hour far away from the campsite, we will get to the Pass over (4615mt / 15,150ft), being there we will enjoy a nice ceremony requesting some permission for the Apus (mountains) considerated male spirits from Mother Earth (Pachamama), after the ceremony We will start to descend for about 2 hours and a half aprox. To get to Huayracmachay Our Lunch Spot over (3900mt / 12,790ft), after lunch still we have to descend for about 3 hours and a half aprox.to get Our campsite which will be Colpapampa over (2900mt / 9500ft) it means that we will descend (1000mt / 3300ft) in 3 hours and a half, once we will at the campsite again everything will be organized our tent will be set up and then we will enjoy a nice happy hour, then after dinner will be ready at 07:00pm, then  your tour guide will tell you the plan for the next day.

Day 3: Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba Camp.

The wake up will be at 5:00am, after we will enjoy a nice breakfast, today will be amazing because we will be introduce in the high jungle, we will start to hike at 06:30am and for about 6 hours hiking we will get to La Playa Our Lunch spot, in the way we will see nice vegetation like coffee plantation, banana plantation as well as a lot of granadilla fruit (passion fruit family), once we will be in La Playa Lunch will be ready waiting for Us, and after Lunch still we will have a short hike for about 1 more hour to get to Lucmabamba Our campsite over (2100mt / 6890ft), in the afternoon we have 2 options,  one is resting the rest of the afernoon at the campsite or to go to Cocalmayo Hot Springs (not included) your tour guide could organize the transport for this adventure, then happy hour will be at 05:30pm, after we will wait for an amazing Dinner, after dinner your tour guide will tell you the plan for the next day.

Day 4: Lucmabamba –  Llactapata – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes town

After the wake up, we will enjoy a nice Coffee Tour for about one hour, you will have the experience to be a Coffee farmer, harvesting,peeling, roasting, grinding and tasting the coffee, after we will start to hike for about 3 hours and a half to Llactapata Inca site,hiking through nice vegetation like coffee plantation  and banana plantation, once we will be in Llactapata Inca site your tour guide will give you a nice explanation about Inca history as well as we will enjoy the view from Machu Picchu Inca site, then for about 2 hours and a half steep down we will get to Hidroelectrica for Our Lunch, our staff will prepare a nice and delicious andean lunch, then we will get on the train with direction to Aguas Calientes for about 50 minutes.Our hotel is located in Aguas Calientes nice accomodation, dinner included in a nice touristic restaurant, after dinner your tour guide will give you the plan for the next day.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes  Town – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast we take the bus from Aguas Calientes town to Machu Picchu to see the SUNRISE, you will have the guiding tour in Machu Picchu with your tour guide for about 2 hours, then you will enjoy your free time and also the time to climb Huayna Picchu mountain for 2 hours up and down, after that you have to return to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo train station, once  you will get to Ollantaytambo train station your transport will wait for you, and for 2 hours drive to cusco city, straight your hotel and end of our services.
